The newest Speakers of the House from across the nation will come together to attend the New Speakers Orientation at the University of Tennessee, Jan. 15-18, 2009. The UT Institute for Public Service will host the program.

The New Speakers Orientation, a part of the National Speakers Conference, is held every two years and provides leadership development education to newly elected Speakers. Depending on the outcome of the elections, up to 20 Speakers will participate from across the U.S.

Program topics will be presented in a nonpartisan manner in order to help draw attention to leadership in a collaborative way. Areas covered may include Trust, Leadership Challenges, Ethics, Cooperation and Consensus Building, and Statesmanship.
